The challenge: Giving this historic building’s dormitories a modern look while ensuring comfort, ergonomics, and durability

The project began with the intention of redesigning the ENPQ students' dormitories to provide them with a modern environment better suited to today's reality. Comfort, ergonomics, privacy, and security were key factors in the design of these new living spaces.

Every four months, a new cohort arrives at the institution and temporarily resides in the dormitories. With so many students coming and going, the furniture requires to be of high quality and durable. The ENPQ is also physically and mentally demanding on aspiring police officers, as they are up early and spend the whole day in hands‑on training. To create the best possible conditions for recovery, dorm spaces had to be carefully divided and designed for rest.

One final consideration is that the dormitories are situated in a historic building dating back to 1827, with rooms accommodating between one and six beds. This required considerable flexibility in the configuration and optimization of the space to create a streamlined environment as well as preserving the occupants' privacy.

The solution: Creating living spaces effectively divided with fully customized furniture

Logiflex is proud to have provided the ENPQ with custom furniture to give Quebec’s future police officers functional and comfortable spaces with secure and optimized storage solutions.

For this project, Logiflex carefully designed a bed to meet the specific requirements. These beds combine a timeless style and materials with durability and convenience, making morning routines and housekeeping effortless.

Due to the limited size of the personal spaces available, optimizing storage was critical. Each individual space has a desk and wardrobe offering multiple storage options and electrical outlets. Pedestals were also included under the beds for shoe storage.

As a final touch, Logiflex provided several special accessories for this project based on the client’s needs, including magnetic strips under the desk hutches, mirrors in the wardrobes and distinctive metal handles. The storage units also have combination locks to keep everyone’s belongings private and secure.

The redesign of the ENPQ dormitories in collaboration with Logiflex has transformed the living spaces of aspiring police officers into modern, comfortable, and secure environments —and by all accounts, these major upgrades have significantly improved the students' overall well-being and training performance.
